110109 PJ CandleLight Vigil – we were outnumbered…

dsc_0001There’s something about dates with numbers combo that resemble  9-11 (all those 4D faithfuls take note).

Tonite was 11Jan2009… or 110109 for short… 11th day of 09….. we all know what happened on 09Nov08 ( 091108 )

delCapo was at our weekly PJ Candle-light vigil.

We managed 1 complete speech –

  • Welcoming the first timers,
  • Welcoming those coming back after the new year break,
  • Welcoming the regulars, the regular & new SBs etc….
  • Reminders of who we are (Anak Bangsa Malaysia), why we are here (Suara Rakyat demanding our rights, our causes…. candle-lights for the ISA detainees)…
  • Updates on last nite’s unfair arrest of 21 at a anti-war vigil at Dataran Merderka…
  • The KT by-election campaign (Pas is leading the way, but we gotta keep up the efforts of sms campaigns + show support to our Barisan Rakyat bloggers on the ground ).

Half way through the 2nd speech…. we got wind that a platoon of PDRM personnel was marching up to the Civic Center tarmac.

Within minutes, we were outnumbered…. more than 150 uniformed & plain clothes PDRM officers, led by the OCPD were surrounding the vigillers…. backed by platoons of FRUs in full battle gear, in & around the ground.

delCapo was embarrassed that we didn’t prepare enough candles to share with our new participants =]

The OCPD, through a loud speaker, informed that we were gathering illegally & ordered the crowd to disperse immediately… or risk arrests.

A brief discussions followed, during which we informed the OCPD that we have been told that the weekly peaceful gathering is perfectly legal. We agreed to disagree.

We furthered requested for 5 mins more to close the evening with the singing of Negaraku. With no objections from the PDRM (well… no consent either), we proceeded:

  • – Negaraku, with gusto
  • – Greetings of goodnight to the participants, including the SBs and uniformed Police officers.
  • – Disperesed peacefully.
  • – No further incidents thereafter.

delCapo would like to hereby post the question to the Petaling Jaya city council & the state government of Selangor once again – is a gathering of a group of peaceful anak anak bangsa Malaysia, once a week, on state public property legal or illegal??? A simple yes or no will do, thanks.

Kudos to those who showed up (including those who were slightly late & barred from entering the ground) & remained calm when faced with the PDRM troops.

To the PDRM, SBs, FRU officers who were on duty and were there at the PJ Civc Centre… thanks for the restrain and coorperation. Peace prevailed, that’s paramount.

To the one(s) who ordered the PDRM, SBs & FRU officers’ presence…. we were there to promote peace & social rights. You took that away from us (again)…. thanks for proving our point & remind us that our cause is still very much relevant.

Those heading to KT this week… See u there.

See everyone else next week…. we shall bring great news from KT.

Next time any dates with “9” and “11” comes along, pls remind me to buy 4D….

Good nite… peace….

The monkees in Blue – Great job done… The last war the Malaysian Police and Army ever fought, a real tough war, was the ones in Sepang- culling Pigs… JE…

.. Apart from that war, they were busy firing tear gas and water cannons on innocent Malaysian Rakyat..

..But… The “Real War” is yet to come… The War by the Rakyat, to get rid of all these Monkees-in- Blue… When the new Govt is sworn in….And I don’t think it’s far off..

TO HELL WITH THE BARISAN GOVT AND ALL THEIR LAP DOGS…

Great speech. Got us in the mood. Will be there next week.

We will request MBPJ, MPs and ADUNs and the Selangor State government for their response. They have given us permission to use said venue. Why did not they arrange for our security from intruders. We were there legally with the permission of the Selangor Govt authorities, based on our aims and objectives. WHY NO PROTECTION FOR ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA from Selangor and elsewhere, when we are standing for the ANTI-ISA position taken by the Selangor Pakatan State Govt and the Wakil-wakil Rakyat. Some answers must come forth.
FOR EVIL TO SUCCEED, IT IS ENOUGH THE GOOD DO NOTHING!

Hey there! The downside of last night was that we ended earlier than expected. The upside is that we will get more publicity and hopefully attract the ones that had not known about the vigil from blogs! You were just great last night! Man U may have beaten Chelsea last night but you beat the odds! :O

omg. police posturing again in places unnecessary. what a strut of nothingness. for the vigilants, consider it flattery that so many men in blue were deployed for the occasion.
we must be gatheing force for such attention.

Thank you very much, Danny for what you did last night.
i guess the police purposely pick on us when they know all the “big shots” and lawyers not around and they think we were just small shrimps whom they can intimidate.

Sorry Bro, I couldn’t make it last night but you did great handling situation in proper manner. Another eye opener to fence sitters. All of you ended up as winners.

  11. January 12, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Heartiest congrats, DelCapo, for rising gallantly to the occasion and handling the situation with masterful aplomb. Looking forward to the day the entire PDRM will be replaced with Gurkha security guards who at least earn their keep!

NO JOKE MAN! THIS IS WHAT OUR FAMOUS MEN IN BLUE ARE GOOD AT. INTIMIDATING LAW ABIDING CITIZENS. WE HAVE CAR HIJACKS, ROBBERIES(SOMETIMES IN BROAD DAYLIGHT} AND NOT FORGETTING THE FAMOUS SNATCH THEFTS. NOT TO OUTDO THESE, WE HAVE MOTORISTS AND MOTORCYCLISTS WHOSE PAST TIME IS TO BEAT THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS WHEN THEY TURN RED(GUYS WHO ARE TIRED OF LIVING) AND NOT FORGETTING THE NOTORIOUS MAT REMPITS AND MAT MINAHS. HELLO THERE! IF YOU GUYS IN BLUE ARE SO FREE WHY NOT GO AFTER THOSE PEOPLE WHO REALLY BREAKS THE LAW, NOT GOING AFTER PEOPLE WHO ARE HOLDING PEACEFUL VIGIL BY CANDLE LIGHT..

  13. January 14, 2009 at 1:25 pm

What to do? We have pussies in our police force who shy away from ridding the violent baddies/rempits and such, yet ever ready to show their outnumbered might against harmless and unarmed citizens.
Evil heads in the respective govt departments relentlessly mow down any dissent against their hantu masters.

    KNOW YOUR RIGHTS MALAYSIA:
The Red Book – Police and Your Basic Rights

In 2006, The Malaysian Bar Council took the initiative to launch a publication titled “The Red Book – Police and Your Basic Rights”.

The Red Book contains a lot of information that you will find useful if you have to deal with the police (plain clothes or uniformed).

For example, the book contains information on your rights and what you can do and cannot do if/when you are stopped, arrested or questioned by the police.

Other useful information in the book include the colour schemes of police authority cards (blue is inspector or above, yellow below, white reserve and red suspended) and the phone numbers of Legal Aid Centres (LAC) that you can call if you need a lawyer.

CLICK HERE to download an English or BM version of The Red Book from the Malaysian Bar Council website:

    SPEAK UP MALAYSIA:
    PROTECT OUR RIGHTS,
    STOP HARASSING PEACEFUL CIVILIANS.

“All persons are equal before the law and entitled
to the equal protection of the law.”
Article 8 (1), Constitution of Malaysia

“Every citizen has the right to freedom of speech and expression.”
Article 10 (1A), Constitution of Malaysia

“All citizens have the right to assemble peaceably
    and without arms.”
Article 10 (1B), Constitution of Malaysia
